Fitra is the natural predisposition that Allah swt. has instilled in each of us from before the time we were born. Do you hear this clearly? This means you and I and our children were all born with the purity in our hearts which enables us to understand, know and love our Creator. From the start! Children have a strong Fitra because their hearts have not yet been corrupted by the deceptions and Fitna of the dunya. This means Allah swt. gave you these children as a trust, an amana, but His Karam or generosity implies that He also has given us the tools and the facilities for us to raise them properly in His path. Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No child is born but that he is upon natural instinct. His parents make him a Jew, or a Christian, or Magian...'' Therefore, our responsibility as parents has been facilitated because of Fitra by Allah's mercy. Nevertheless, If we do not make any efforts in teaching islam to our children in a way that will ignite deep love and strong faith; we will have failed our duty towards our Creator, our children and towards ourselves as parents. May Allah Swt. make us dutiful parents. May He bless our families with strong faith and love for our deen. May He make us cherish the Fitra He has instilled in us and in our children and may He help us take advantage of it for Yawm Al Qiyamah.
